Walkie Stacker: Get The Right Model For The Job

Stacking pallets up requires that you use the proper equipment. To accomplish this job you will need a pallet stacker made to lift heavy loads up to a high level. The Walkie Stacker is designed to do this job well. There are however several different models that you can choose from. To determine which one you should choose requires that you ask yourself several questions. These questions will help to determine which model is right for the jobs that you will need done.

Will It Fit In Your Work Area?

First, you should look at your available space in the work areas. This is the first step and all other determining factors should come after you have found the size you need. After all, if it does not fit in your workspace then what good is it? Different models will come in varying sizes. You will need to find one that fits in the workspace you have available. After determining how much workspace you have available to accommodate the equipment you can then determine what size models you can go with.

What's Your Load Type?

The next question you need to ask yourself is what load type do you deal with. When dealing with skids you will need your equipment to have a fork over configuration. A fork over configuration is where the forks are directly over the outriggers. When dealing with loads on a pallet you will want your equipment to have a straddle configuration. This is where the outriggers straddle the load.

Some models will only have one load-handling configuration and some will have both. For those that deal with both skids and pallets it is best to go with a model that does both, instead of investing in two separate pieces of equipment. Now if you only deal with one type of load whether it be skids or pallets, then you really do not need to spend extra on walkie stackers that handles both. Sometimes you can get a model cheaper when it only has one load configuration.

Know Your Maximum Load Weight

Then you should ask yourself what is the maximum load weight that you deal with. By know the maximum load weight you can determine which model is right for you. After all each model will have, its very own load capacity and you will need one that can deal with the maximum load weight that you encounter. Since it can be unsafe to exceed the weight capacity of that model always, purchase one that has the maximum weight capacity that you have encountered or expect to encounter. Weight capacities can run between 2,000 lbs to 4,000 lbs with varying weights in between.

The height in which you need to stack the load should also be in question. Each model will have its own reach limit. You should look at how high you will be stacking the load and choose a model that fits with your maximum height. Also with the Walkie stacker, the reach limit is sometimes dependent upon the loads weight. Therefore, you should look at the weight of your loads as well as the height in which you will be stacking them. All of this will help you choose a model that works best for you.
